So this morning i noticed my standard rex dexter is shaking a bit? hes taking small quick breaths and ive had this once before and the vet said they werent sure what was wrong.
It worrys me and it makes me feel like a bad rabbit owner lol maybe hes just hot? he will be doing it one second and the next he will bring his head of of his cage (i cant get him to come out this morning) and he will give me tons of kisses.
Last time this happened he was like this for about 2 days and then he was really tired the 3rd day and his "waste" wasnt as normal? usually theres little balls but when he has this problem its more like..a cats but smaller lol
He still plays normal just he will lay down and around his tummy and his head shakes and he takes short quick breaths. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Sorry, I have no idea what it could be. I've never owned a rabbit because they are illegal where I live.

Does the vet you took him to specialise in seeing rabbits? I don't know how it works where you live, but in Australia we have some vets that specialise in exotic pets. Rabbits are classed as exotics so these vets specialise in their care. Much like avian vets specialise in bird care.

Your rabbit is sick. He needs to see a vet. Don't put it off please.

For all you know your stupid friend or the "guy you hate" could have given him something. Seriously.

I am for sure taking him to a vet asap to be checked out it was just a matter of finding one. He has a appointment tomorrow afternon at 2. I know my friend or the guy i hate didnt give him anything because he was in the bedroom with me and the door was locked. His cage is near the heater but the last vet i talked to said it was a good location as the vent is only used during the winter and its still a good distance away from it.

i'm thinking heat may be the issues after reading this...Answers.com - What to do when your rabbit is shaking
Thank youu. I know he doesnt have ear mites, i dont think he was cold because our heating system keeps our house at a certain temperature. I think he was just hot..his cage isnt in direct sunlight but there is a bit that goes to his cage and he does like to like in it every once in a while

So i took Dexter to the vet today and they said they couldnt find anything wrong, it could be the heat from the vent so i moved his cage into another room. I wish i knew a for sure reason.

That's so strange! Did they run any tests? Blood tests?

I hope the blood tests show nothing is wrong and that is was the heat. Please let us know what you find out.
