Thanks, guys. It's been a tough situation. I think his cage was not properly closed after he was being fed, and then the doors and dog were not secured. It was lack of attention on the sitters part, which is really frustrating and had not been a problem in the past, but I had also not been gone for quite this long before. I've searched the house extensively and no sign of his body, so I think he was eaten (hopefully it was immediate and he didn't suffer). I am going to bury his little foot at my parents' house in the mountains in VA (D always liked to talk to the wild birds, so I think he'd like it there), though I now have to wait for these storms to pass.
