May I ask why she had a Polynoma vaccine? I thought it was just for juvi's because adults usually aren't susepitble. I'm glad she's feeling better.

Thank you all for the support and encouragement. She ate very well last night and consumed enough food that she was 199 grams after dinner....but woke up having lost yet another gram. That really puzzles me. Down to 189 now. She had some breakfast and is not as chipper as last night. I notified the vet about the 1 gram loss. I guess the next hing if she does not improve over the weekend will be bloodowork. Under anesthesia unfortunately...we saw how stressed she got with just a physical exam and vaccination. So trying to draw blood from the jugular will be impossible while awake. Anyway I'm not crossing that bridge yet. I am optimistic.

Laura, she is plucking occasionally but nothing like the drastic job she did on day 1

Ginger, my vet is not a proponent of the polyoma vaccine for adult birds either, but my caique breeder insists. It seems caiques can contract it even in adulthood. SHe has many many years of caique knowledge under her belt so I must defer to her.

Ginger, they get the polyoma shot in august every year. Her gram stain was normal. She does not have the symptoms of ecoli or salmonella either.

I've just put in a call to the vet to see what the next step is if the weight loss does not stop by monday
