As a graduation gift to myself, I bought a very nice Nikon camera and zoom lens.

I gotten a few really good bird shots.

Common Gallinule eating a live dragonfly it just caught.

Taking a bath. I think this is a male blue winged teal.

A very shy American Kestrel. This is the first time I have ever seen one. He/She hardly let me approach before they flew off.

A crow eating what appears to be chicken left over from a picnic.

Another crow in flight.

Forgive the quality on these. These are pictures I took the very first day I had the camera and had not really learned how to use it yet. It was also very overcast and about to get dark.

White Heron

Snowy Egret and tri colored heron

Killdeer

Killdeer fleeing in terror from my husband, who was just out of view.

Few more for you guys of the Quakers I saw in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico a few weeks ago.

I heard them before I saw them. Once I started looking, I found several of them. They were taking small bits of tree branches. A few minutes later I found their colony nest in a palm tree. The nest looked to be about as big as I am (if not bigger) and the tree was at least 20ft tall.

Not nice! Tease us with a new zoom and camera, yet leave all the good details out. Tell us all about it! I tried to find out myself, but your photo had the exif removed. :(

It's a Nikon D5100.

This is the zoom lens. It's not top of the line but I got a really good deal on it with a special Nikon was running. I ended up getting the camera and lens for less than what I would have probably paid for it used.

Here's one more picture for right now. Not a bird but thought you might like it anyway. This is a Puerto Rican Crested Anole. They have bright blue eyes, which I didn't notice until I looked at the pictures on my computer. This might be a female as only it's tail was crested (couldn't get camera to cooperate on full body pictures).

That's a nice setup. We'd all love those 2.8 beauty's! :p I, like you have a mid grade zoom, and it also can get some awesome shots. Once you get to know it, you'll be thrilled with the photos you turn out. :)

I have to say, for just getting it, you're doing a great job with these pics! Love the Anole.
