I am so stupid. Captain is gone..

Captain had a habit of napping with me, usually on the couch but yesterday I decided to nap in my bed (rare) and Captain came with me. I was SO tired I was asleep almost instantly and Captain was cuddling with me. At some point I suppose he hid in the blanket and when I woke up (my fiance and 9 month old woke me up) and left the room and my 3 year old asked me where Captain was. Mind you, he usually sat by my head so I moved my pillow and he wasnt there. My heart dropped. I moved a blanket and he was there..and gone. We don't know what happened. Me, my fiance or my son could have done it. I have been a mess, as has my fiance and my 3 year old. The guilt is immense and I don't know what to do anymore.. He was my baby. We rescued him from neglect, pampered and spoiled him all day every day. He went from biting and hating being pet anywhere but his head to allowing me to give him under the wing scritches and never ever biting. I am so heartbroken..and it was my fault completely.

I do want to forgive myself but I keep having flashbacks of finding him.. I keep remembering it is MY fault. I made a deadly mistake, despite thinking in the back of my head that I shouldn't bring him in there. He was my Captain baby. He loved me so much and I failed him. I took many years of love away from him.
