Mystic's Mom, do you keep your hys in the same cage and are they bonded in the same way a breeding pair would be? Do you see mating behavior from them? Have you always had them together and if not did you notice a personality change when you got the other?
I'd dearly love to get my hy a friend some day in the future although I'm lukewarm about letting them bond and make babies unless they were cooperative enough to only lay eggs when I gave them a nest box and I could go a year or two between clutches. Raising babies sounds like fun, but given the 6-12 months to wean, every year might be a bit much for me. Still debating the wisdom of getting another hy male or female or a female of another species. That way I don't have to worry about babies or hybrids. Do your hys show much interest in other macaws?
