I was trying to find alternatives to a cage and aviator harness for my birds. The aviator... well both of them see it and take for the hills! I was thinking of purchasing a flight suit, as maybe it will be more acceptable?
Anyone have any experience with this?

And I also know there are other brands... like a feather tether? Just curious what people had the most luck with!

And feel free to select more than one option :D

I would LOVE to be able to take my boys out in harnesses or flight suits but Mika loses all ability to use his legs when harnessed (and I don't feel like walking around with Mika dangling from a leash LOLOLOL) and I value my fingers too much to try to harness Raptor. :D I use travel cages.

It depends. Normally its the aviator.

But sometimes I go to the vet, they are in their carriers then.

Sometimes I just stand outside, So I hold toes, no harness.

For spending time outside, I just roll their cages outside. Great opportunity for in-depth cage cleaning and soaking wet showers. For visits to the vets they go in animal carriers.

I love the idea of the harness or flight suit, but I'm not up for all the hysterics in trying to get them on and used to it.

When I take Peatree outside, I put her in my spare keet cage. I really want to harness train her!

Jingo uses an aviator, and we are trying to use the Kaylor collar for Koopa since she is so small. She hates it going over her head though, so debating a flight suit

i would love to get chaucer in his aviator harness but right not he only tolerates his head...not his wings through. so i put him in his travel cage and he gets to be outside.

I have always used cages. Maybe some day I'll have a bird who will wear a harness.

Ziya hates the Aviator harness, I think mostly because of the loop that goes over the head and around the neck. I managed to get it partially on her once, and she rolled around trying to rip it off  She's not a fan of the flight suit yet, either, but we're working on that, because I think it might be less scary since it doesn't have that neck loop. I really, really, REALLY want a Pak-o-Bird carrier, but they're sooooo ridiculously expensive!

I haven't personally ever used the Feather Tether, but I've heard bad things.

Interesting that no one uses flight suits.
Any reason why besides how funny they look? hehe.

Kiwi used to use his harness all the time but, since we moved, I've been lazy and stuck him out in his cage. One day soon we will be back to going for walks!

At the moment in a carrier box too the aviary, but hopefully in a few months aviator training goes well, and then it'll be harness all the way

I read flight suits aren't trusted as Velcro is the only thing stopping them coming off, and you having no bird? And they're also too heavy for some birds?

Juni and Curi have flight suits, Juni has a harness, and the other birds go out in cages.

Small parakeet cage. If I ever get a bigger bird (pi or cape) I would love to try some kind of harness (probably whatever is recommended at the time)

Right now we go out in cages. I have a harness for Mali, but we couldn't get the hang of it last summer. Maybe this summer!

Harness.
I suppose if we had a destination indoors, like the vet or visiting a family member I'd bring a cage for my bird to be able to go to.
But I enjoyed having Ink out with me.

She did use a flight suit indoors, but really only for the diaper aspect, as I was going to potty train her.
I also liked using the flight suit with the aviator, for the same reason. So when we went out I wouldn't have to worry about her pooping all over me or others.
I personally wouldn't trust the flight suits as an actual harness because it is velcro.
