Today is one month, one week, and one day since I adopted Shelbywelbs.
She remains a calm, sweet girl the majority of the time. She does have her moody moments, but hey, that's just life with a bird I think.
She also has her boisterous times that I find so adorable, where she dances and shouts. And she coos to us, and chitters, and generally is just adorable.
Here she is falling asleep on top of her cage just cause I thought she looked cute (again, sorry for cell phone quality).
She does have a nice little perch up there, but do you think she uses it? NOPE! Afraid of it! lol
I'm also excited/happy because I adopted two young budgies today that were posted on FB (just like Shelby was) that were needing a home. They're currently in a room across the house from Shelby until quarantine is over. Eventually after their vet visit if everything checks out, I'd like to move them into the same room as Shelby so they can see each other and hear each other's noises. And Shelbs & the budgies will be my last birds for QUITE some time. I'm madly in love with them all. <3
Their names are Emma (white & blue one with a touch of yellow on her pretty little head) and George after Emma & George Knightley in Jane Austen's novel Emma.
Emma is a little spitfire and George just chills out. He is so calm and patient with her. It's adorable.
Such a gorgeous bright pink! Wow. There is something about a cockatoo's love, it is just unlike anything else. And usually cockatoos will be very friendly around guests, unlike my macaws who try to kill anyone who goes near their cage, but are as sweet as can be with my husband and I.
Digressing a little, but having met Macawnutz too Nikki (as well as some of her other birds), I'll agree. Nikki is a total suck-up for cuddles but she definitely loves her men more than her women. Now I just have to meet a pink fluffster to cuddle up to.
