Quaker Carl
Meeting neighbors
Hi everyone I'm Carl and from England. Hope you all are good and well and your feathered overlords. I have a male Quaker Parrot named Xander. He is 10 month old and I got him when he was 3 months old. He is my first real Parrot but as a child we had 2 Cockatiels and a budgie. I have really fell in love with all Parrots since owning Xander and I'm learning all I can and just looking to share my love with like minded nice people and continue to learn about them and have some fun along the way and be part of this great community.
Xander was a rescue even at 3 month old. He had been neglected and had damaged wings and feathers and was just terrified of everything so I decided to bring him home with me and give him a loving forever home. He took a lot of work at first but now he is tame and very nice natured and really silly. He makes me laugh all the time. He seems to have a very mechanical mind, he has more fun taking his toys down than playing with them, likes to know how things work. He started talking last month and knows about 12 words at the moment. He isn't too loud but once or twice a day he likes to have a squawk but that's ok. I converted him to a pellet diet pretty quickly and he likes fruit but we do struggle with the veggies. He will only eat corn and green beans so that's an ongoing battle. I train him every day. He fledged even with the damaged wings and can fly pretty good. We are just starting to work on tricks and flight recall now. Its a real joy owning him and in the coming months I'm looking to add another to my flock, possibly a Green Cheek Conure as I have the time, space and love to give. Anyways thank you for reading and having me on the forum. I look forward to meeting you guys and your feathered friends x
