Just found out that one of the girls I hired last month is also a bird mom. She adopted this cutie from a relative who left her covered all the time. It is very hard to tell for sure, but does she look like a female IRN to y'all?
Poor baby was all seed and no attention. I am going to help her get this baby back to health and hopefully good feather. My friend has asked for advice on food and toys and things. I am taking her a bag of chop tomorrow and going through my toy stash this weekend to find things to entertain her.
Any and all help and advice on IRN's and diet and likes and needs is much appreciated!

And first thing we will talk about is getting rid of that plastic "perch". I have spare natural perches to give her next week.

Should ask your friend if she wants to join the avenue!

She has Teils and loves, too. She was telling me about this cutie today and at a loss at how to help her stop plucking and aggression issues. This baby has such sweet, but scared eyes. My friend wants to learn and while I do not know much about IRN's, I have the best community in the world to help!

Poor baby, I hope with time, love and care she'll learn to trust and let her feathers grow in.

Thanks so much for helping her and the baby out, and hopefully your friend joins AA! :)

:( poor baby. Reading that and seeing the pictures has got me in tears.
The feathers around the back of the neck make me think boy.
Has your friend been to an avian vet?
Rijgnecks are brilliant foragers and it is a good way to keep them engaged. Natural browse is usually a winner too. Grass seeds, dandelion flowers, whatever bird safe trees you can find.
They like a nice big cage too!
I hope you guys can improve his/her life!

That was one of the first things on my mind. Goodness… Bless this little one's heart. Thanks for helping your friend and this bird!

It could just be me, but it looks like he/she could be an African ringnecked parakeet, and not an Indian ringnecked parakeet. The care would be the same for either species though.

I was wondering the same, but so very hard to tell.

Some of the things I am giving to her to try. I don't know if IRN'S or ARN'S are big chewers, but I am sure hoping some of this will make her "Green" a much happier bird. Any input appreciated. 20160814_140904_001.jpg

My friend did tell me that the feathers on her belly that look scraggly are new feathers that she has not pulled out in the time that she has had her. She keep her by the window and uncovered, so just having something to watch and people talking to her is helping a little bit.
Gave her 2 bags of chop Friday and hoping "Green" took to it. I will give her this bag of toys and perches tomorrow. The toys are either part of a held back stash or some that my GCC's never took a liking to. Sprayed everything that is not new with F10 to make sure it is clean (even though both of mine are healthy). Some foraging toys, foot toys, balsa perch, phone book piece for shredding, cement perch for nails, Chinese handcuffs for stuffing and some other things. Really hoping the poor baby takes to some of it and allows herself to fully feather!
