My parakeet flew out of her cage. She is not tame. How can I coax her back in?

Hello! Is there a particular treat she enjoys that you could lure her in with? I would make it very obvious something tasty is going in the cage and just let her make her way back over, once she is in shut the door.
Or will she step up on a stick?

If there is a safety concern, although not ideal, you could catch her with a towel :shy: That will probably freak her out though so that is the last resort.

Untame birds usually return to the cage once they are hungry.

Turn off lights in the room but leave a lamp by the cage. Make sure there is food and water in the cage and then just wait until the bird returns :) If absolutely necessary you can use a towel or blanket to net and put the bird back in.

Bobber is untame and has been allowed out of his cage every day for 2 years ;) We rarely have to towel.

She will eventually get exhausted and land on the floor or other surface where you can catch her.

welcome to you. i'm sure once she gets hungry she'll find her way back in, try playing with her water so she can hear it, she's bound to have worked up a thirst!

Thank you all for the advice, and the welcomes! Well, by the next morning she was still on the loose,,,so when she flew into my bedroom she sat there right next to my mirror (of course), so I got a vase wide at the top, and put it right down over her and took her back to her cage. She's back in and all is well again! :)
