So I have a 1 year old, male, non hand reared eclectus parrot named Rico and I am unsure of how to tame him. I have only ever had young birds that were handreared but as he has been neglected by his breeder and is already matured I do not know how to go about taming him and gaining his trust. I understand it will take a lot of time and patience and any information on how to tame him will be much appreciated. I am also wondering about letting him out of his cage, I have only done it once and the only way to get him back in was for me to put him back in which he was not too happy about. I want him to know he is safe and he can trust me and he is in a good home so what is the best approach to taming him?
