Does anyone know when they will switch to solid food? Are there any tricks to this? Should I leave a bowl in their nest box so that they can see the parents eating out of it and drinking out of it?

They are very cute and look great. Mom & dad are doing an excellent job caring for them.

Oh my gosh, they look great! Mom and dad are taking great care of them! Once you start handling them, you should start weighing them every day, too, and track their weight. Once they are fully feathered, they will start to drop some weight in preparation to fledge. I would expect that between 7-10 weeks. Then they will leave the nest during the day and start to perch, then start to learn to fly. During that time, make sure they have access to all the same foods as the parents, but some in softer form (pellets soaked in juice, mashed veggies and fruits, cheerios). They will start by playing with the solid food, and start to accidentally eat it, too!

Thank you for the advice! Apollo (the dad) has never been super keen about people. He bonded to Lucky. While I had Lucky for a few years before getting him. Apollo would come to us on his terms only (when he wanted).

Also...

I see some fiery shoulders coming in on one!
cuteness overload...

Sorry! I have been very busy with work, and birds haha.

It looks like they will end up looking -more- like Fiery Shouldered Conure's!

The first picture is from last week.

The one in the hand is the oldest. He is exploring and climbing and getting out on his own all of the time now haha.

Still no flying, but he did get on my finger once! We have only seen him play around with pellets but not eat one yet. His tail is still super short too.

This baby was holding on to the tip of my finger and then climbed up my shirt on his own!
Should have asked this earlier - how does it feel to be a grandparront? :hehe:

Really cute! Are you planning on keeping one? It will be interesting to see how the hybrid turns out as far as temperament.
