I've been using this site for awhile now and thought it was time to introduce myself. So, hello 
I guess you could say I am a novice bird owner but not new to parrots. At the high school I go to we have an animal science program where we have over 100 different species of animals including a variety of parrots ranging from small budgies to large blue and gold macaws. I get the chance to handle, train, and even raise all of these birds. Even though I handle all the birds I work one-on-one with two moluccan cockatoos named Skippy-doo
and Cha Cha. Skippy is a total ball of fluffy destruction and sweetness all rolled in one and I love him!
Not all of the birds that come into the program are as trained and sweet as Skippy. Most of them come in with fear and aggression issues. They find a home at our school where the students work with them and train them. It is an awesome program that has evidently made me addicted to parrots

This past summer I decided I wanted a bird of my own. I was looking at green cheek conures since they are my favorite conure, especially the turquoise color mutation. Well one day I was at a bird fair with some friends and was talking to a breeder who had some baby parrots with them. That's the moment I met Diesel, a Nanday conure. I guess you could say it was fate, but the moment I picked him up and he cuddled into my neck I knew we were meant to be
I never expected my first bird to be a Nanday conure since I had never shown any interest in them but I guess its true that the bird picks you. Diesel is now 6 months old and has turned into an amazing bird that loves everyone and is even learning to talk! The end... for now
