Shared album - Lea Hollingsworth-Ramsey - Google Photos This is my new adoption, he is a 14 year old Harlequin macaw named Harley Quinn. I am his third owner. First owner had him for 12 years, neglected him and fed him the cheapest food available from Walmart. As I understand it, he was kept in a dark garage and got very little interaction. The second owners took him in, got him eating healthy foods and worked on socializing him. Unfortunately, after about a year and a half, Harley attacked the husband and bit up his arm pretty seriously. They decided he had to go that day. Well, after calling a few places including the humane society that offered to euthanize him-- they were referred to me. I went to pick him up the minute I got the call. I brought him home, gave him a a nice warm shower, dried him up, dremeled his toenails and proceeded to get to know him. Well, he does have some weird behaviors, but he's not anything like I was expecting. He's a sweetheart to me, rubs his face on my hand, makes kissy noises, and then puts his head in my hand for scratches. I have several other rescue macaws, so I have handled difficult birds. This guy is not one. I think he's a sweetheart. Isn't he beautiful?
