Pepper is gone.

I can hardly even think about it.

It's my fault.

It was stupid.

She's molting again, wings half grown in. I almost clipped her last night, but thought I'd wait til the feathers were just a little more grown in.

As usual, the back door was open (that's why I clip). Perfect storm of events- startled bird, gust of wind, she's gone.

We've talked to all the neighbors, got flyers up, posted on Craigslist and Parrot Alert.

Now I'm just sick.

I put Morton outside in the cage for a couple hours, hoping he'd squawk and she'd squawk back, but he was silent as a post.

I am so mad at myself.

My poor sweet Pepper.

Oh, I am so sorry! Don't give up. Be out there just before dawn. Take Pepper's favourite (noisiest) foods, like peanuts in shell, bags of chips, etc. Call, whistle, make familiar sounds. Leave a cage outside with treats and water. Your weather there is probably not too cold so there is hope to get her back. Take Morton out in a carrier as much as is safe. Take a pillowcase for when you do catch Pepper. Safer to put her in that then try to carry her back safely without getting away again.
Thinking positive thoughts for you and Pepper! :hug8:

Oh no :( Don't give up. Shes there waiting for you! My grey flew away twice and was found both times. Your best bet is to be out looking for her before sunrise. :hug8:

I'm still walking around and talking to the neighbors, and looking as much as possible.

I have a strong feeling she's close by, just scared to death and hunkered down.

Try to keep calm in your voice as you call her. Make sure to also search down low under bushes, etc. I pray she comes home very very soon. :sadhug2:

Oh no! I'm so so sorry. As everyone else said, bring out food / snacks, take a cage out for her and leave it open with fresh food and water in case she comes back, search in bushes along with in the trees. If she's been clipped most of her life she probably won't have the skills to fly back down so if you do find her in a tree keep this in mind and take it very slow. I'm hoping for the best. Sending all my good thoughts and wishes your way. :sadhug2:

Oh no! Did you find here yet? Remember accidents happen! I had a quaker once who escaped and I was able to get her back and so have many others. Keep faith!

Haven't found her. It's dark out now. I might have heard her.

I'll be out first thing in the morning looking some more.

I've read some of the amazing stories here about people who have gotten their birds back. I'm not giving up yet!
