Oh Lauren, I am so very, very sorry for your loss. I'm so glad you had a nice night with her, she knew she was well loved. Glad nothing showed up that would put your other fids at risk. Hugs. I am sending healing prayers for your heart.

What a sad event in your life. There is currently much research happening on atherosclerosis and African Greys. As with us humans diet and exercise are so important. At least she had a quality life after you became her guardian. I am shedding tears looking at your photo. Birdie hugs to you.

Yes this was gross only. If the vets saw anything to send off they were going to. There were 2 avian specialists and 1 vet neurologist right there when they did the necropsy the night after she died. The vet called us in the morning. We were unbelievably lucky to have an amazing avian crew so close to home.

Lauren, so so sorry for your huge loss. You know the team looking after your Gracie did all they could for her and were so sensitive to your needs also. In years to come you will remember the good times you had with her and know you would not have missed them for anything.
She is no longer suffering and flying high and free, you will see her again one day of that I am so sure. God bless.:hug8:

Sorry for your loss. I think the doctors were very helpful in what they did regarding the necropsy. Understanding the cause helps with the grieving process. Fly free little Grey!

I just really want to remind everyone that if you're going to do the gross necropsy you should really go all the way and do the histo as well. There are things they can learn from the histo, one being ruling out PDD. PDD does not necessarily show up on a gross necropsy and can only be ruled out for certain by also doing the histopathology. A good friend of mine who lost her grey to PDD said that the gross necropsy showed absolutely nothing that would have ever made the doctors think of PDD. They only found it on histo. This is so important for all of us to understand.

Such a sad beautiful picture of your Greycie. She was so loved and cherished by you and know you will see her again one day.
Remember the beautiful memories you must have of her and take it a day at a time. I know you would not have missed one moment with your little girl and the pain you are feeling now is the price we have to pay for loving them so much.:hug8:
