Fresh birch sticks

Can I give to Edgar fresh birch sticks to chew? I know birch is safe but I do not know if I should dry it first. Thank you.

I would at least soak them in a bathtub with bleach and water. Then rinse them a couple times. You could also remove the pretty white bark if there is any. Nice find.

Sometimes there are critters under the bark or eggs of critters depending upon the area the birch tree was located.
