Flea spray?

My room where the bird stays was sprayed for fleas. I had the bird away from it while spraying was done and aired out, but I realized the bird food was on a nightstand that wasn't sprayed. It's in a zip lock thing and it was opened a bit and had some newspaper that I used as liner on it too. I'm thinking of getting rid of it. Does it have to be sprayed on to be dangerous?
