This guy. Captain Jack -- finally learned to fly! He flew a couple times yesterday and once today. He is 14 months old.
Pardon my mess. It's always this way.
The story: his breeder clipped him before I got him at 10 weeks. (I'd asked her not to. Maybe she'd already done by then) She really HACKED them, all the feathers not just a few.
He has mostly hopped - he can hop a really long way! But I noticed he had a lot less confidence than Rio ever did. I think it was mostly due to the clipping. He talks very softly, you can hardly hear him, and mostly just stares/watches things. He wants me to hold him on my hand; he's not even comfortable on an arm or shoulder. And since he can't get around by himself, he asks to be on my hand a LOT.
His wingies didn't grow back till about a month ago. I've been trying to make him flap them. First time he flew yesterday was an accident. Second time I said "fly to me" ---- and he did! And landed on my finger! I'll keep working at it. I'm just so happy he is finally flying.
