Are female conures more difficult than males? I am getting a female Dusky conure her brother is quiet and laid back-(he was already purchased and we had them DNA'd at the same time) . - and she is busy and Loud!!

Congrats. When are you getting her?
Had a female...super sweet and quiet but generally busy.
Now have a male, a bit nippy, very chatty and very active. Was surprised at how loud he was because Duskys are generally on the quiet side but I was told that there are always exceptions and he is one.
Just depends on the individual bird, IMO.

Thanks! She's busy and Loud right now. She will be ready in about 1 week. She does tend to copy the other birds at the store. She was in a screech battle with a Jenday conure. She's copied cockatiels and greencheeks too!

They are very smart, btw. Both of mine figured out how to get out of their cages. Jaden (my current Dusky) is excellent at unscrewing quick links and also unscrewed the breeder door on his cage. With his previous cage he figured out that by lifting the seed guard and pushing out the food/water dishes he could get out.

What are you concerned about regarding female...possible egg laying or ??
It's fun having a smart and inquisitive bird.
I'm assuming she will be fully weaned. Did you get a cage for her yet?

Here's Jaden. He looks fat in the photo but he's not, just the way the photo was taken:

Yes eggs! That is my fear! I've read some horror stories regarding egg binding. I have two cages for her. One may be too big at first so may use the sleep cage until she's older She should be weaned in about a week. She's down to less than one feeding and eating pretty well. She's definitely active and full of energy!

It's not all set up yet Waiting on toys and such. Do you think this is too big for now?

Cage size depends on her and what she can deal with. She might be more comfortable in the smaller cage but can't predict. Set them both up and have them both available and see how she does. What is she in now? Olivia is a cute name. I'm very excited for you.

The bird store has her in a smaller cage. Definitely would only be a sleeping cage size. I bought a sprouting kit and hope she will eat those. What do you fed Jaden?
Do you mind if I message you with questions?

Yes you can message me. Jaden eats Volkman Avian Science. I combine Super cockatiel no sunflower with Super Hookbill. They have a lovebird/conure mix that you could use but I would recommend feeding what she is being fed now for consistency and then wean her off her current diet if it is necessary. Jaden also gets millet, mixed veggies (cooked), Avian Organics baked treats, Avicakes and Lafeber popcorn. He tosses the pellets I've tried. I would give more fruit but the last time I gave the birds, who are downstairs fruit, I had a lot of ants.
