I think I'm pretty lucky in that we have several avian vets in the state. I have 2 avian specialists within close travel distance. We also have CSU's Veterinary Teaching Hospital further north. I'm lucky in that I work with veterinarians, so I know a good one when I find one. We go to Mesa Veterinary Hospital in Golden. I've heard great things about several others in the area, as well :)

What I like about our vet:

1) He spends time with my birds, chatting to them while he looks them over
2) He's knowledgeable and we can talk about everything - diet, foraging behaviors, home environment, etc.
3) He's always ready to answer questions and explains everything he's doing as he examines my birds
4) Overall, it's not a stressful thing to take my birds to the vet (for me, anyway!)

Thanks for posting this. I may be moving to Boulder in the near future so I'm glad there are good vets so close.
