Cockatiel Growling?

Ok so at the pet store today, this little cockatiel was perching on my finger after getting him/her to step up. It let out a little growling sound. It wasn't trying to get away from me though. Instead, it was very insistent on climbing onto my shoulder and started preening my hair! Now then, is this a happy sound?

I would guess yes. I have never heard a tiel growl, but I don't have vast experience, either.

If she preened you, she certainly likes you.

OK, I did a search and my tiels have made those sounds, yes. I think it's excitement over something. Could be good, could be bad, but in your case, I'd say good.

My tiel would sometimes make a little growling sound. It was usually him being playful.
