Biannual camping trip this weekend. Saw a few species of birds that I've never seen in the area we caped in this weekend (and we camp there twice a year.
For instance, we've watched red-tailed hawks raising families on the cliffs for years. This year they had competition in the form of at least one pair of Zone-Tailed hawks. I was sitting on a rock by the marshy end of the creek and had one land on the bank just downriver from me.
I also got a photo (a little blurry) of a Bridled Titmouse, which I've never seen down there before.
One of the other guys and me also saw a Sora, a small species of rail, but I couldn't get a picture. And a had a very large heron fly upriver past me (first one I've seen out there), but couldn't react fast enough to get a shot of it.
Here's a goldfinch, but I'm not sure which variety.
On the non-bird side of things, Canyon tree frogs have returned to the area since the big flood cleared the trash out of the area.
and Ornate Tree lizards were all over the place.
