It is with great pleasure that I announce the Celebirdy for the month of May, 2013,
the very handsome, Sunny!
Here is what Martine had to say about her precious baby.
1. How did you acquire your bird?
My husband had a beloved Lutino Budgie growing up and one day I saw a gorgeous yellow bird in a pet store and called my husband to tell him about him. He then dropped in to look at him on his way home from work and fell in love with what turned out to be a Lutino Indian Ringneck. We decided we wanted a baby bird, so we waited until one was available. Sunny was born on April 25th, 1998. We picked him up when he was 5 mos. old.
2. What is your birds name, age and sex?
Sunny is a male and is 15 years old.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
Sunny is an excellent talker.
4. What are some of your birds favorite foods?
Fruits and veggies!!! All kinds, he's a slob
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
When we first got Sunny we had no idea Ringnecks could talk and one morning while we were sleeping we hear a voice in the living room saying "makey poop" We didn't know who was in the house, and boy did we crack up laughing when we finally heard it coming from under the bird cage cover. Sunny's first words "makey poop"
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
Sunny brought the love of birds to my family and we'll be forever grateful to him for that.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
I think Indian Ringnecks are awesome. Their expressive eyes are amazing. They are so smart and if they talk, they can talk in context. They must have very tall cages (wide too of course) to accommodate their very long tails.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
Sunny is pretty active and eats constantly to feed that activity lol. Thankfully Sunny is a talker--so he talks more than he squawks--the squawks are not pretty
9. What are some of your birds quirks?
Sunny's bluffing stage never went away. He bluffs all the time lunging but just taps your fingers with his beak.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
I have 2 favorites: Once my brother who was visiting was staring at Sunny close up and Sunny said point blank "What are you looking at!"
Another time he told my mother "You look just like Daddy! "
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Pistachios
