Marlene
Welcome to the neighborhood!
Join me in congratulating the Celebirdy for the month of February, 2013
the beautiful, funny, BREEZE!
Here is what Valerie had to say about her baby Breeze.
1. How did you acquire your bird?
I was not looking to adopt another bird but found her photo online and I could not turn my back on her. Her living conditions were very poor which broke my heart. The breeder's view was, "it's just a bird." She is much more than that to me, she is my world. Due to very poor breeding practices and possibly being inbred, Breeze suffers very poor health and falls sick quite often.
2. What is your birds name, age and sex?
Her name is Breeze. I have a deep love for the beach and the warm summer breeze that blows in off the ocean so I instantly knew what her name would be, something that was close to my heart. She was sexed a female, and will be 2 years old on June 1st.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
No special tricks, we love her just the way she is. She's perfect to me!
4. What are some of your birds favorite foods?
Mash, mash and more mash!
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
Breeze never fails to say the perfect answer at the perfect moment. She has quite a talent with it.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
She is my world, she makes it complete. Life would not be the same without Breeze, Jazzy and Rusty in it. Breeze is the most comical little bird that has ever flown this earth and I am so blessed to say that she is mine! Everyday she makes me laugh with the new words and phrases that she manages to put together.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
Do your homework before you make the decision to adopt because a pet is something you don't rid of should you grow tired of caring for them. Make sure Quakers are legal in your state. They can be a bossy little fid, very cage aggressive, and they are not the bird for everyone due to their noise level. You not only open up your home to them, but you open up your heart as well. Just because they are small and cheaper in price compared to many other species , never means they are any less of a bird or easily disposable. They are generally a one person bird and will build a close attachment to that owner. Quakers are funny little birds that will bring you lots of joy and laughter.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
I've always called Breeze my little adhd fid. She talks non-stop from daylight to dark. Her activity level is high and her noise levels are worst of the mornings and evenings. Some days she can be louder than others and will try to wake up the whole neighborhood at 6 a.m.
.
9. What are some of your birds quirks?
When she flies she always screams "what-what-what" as if she doesn't understand whats happening.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
She is well known on Avian Avenue for her potty mouth. They seem to be her favorite words. When serving her bowl of mash to her this morning she said to me, "Good Job! Thank you"
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Birdie Bread, select seeds, apples.
