It is with great pleasure that I introduce the Celebirdy for the month of January 2014
Becky's (merlinsmom13) MERLIN!!!!
1. How did you acquire your bird?
Merlin was a Christmas gift in 2006. The 1st time I knew I was a parrot owner when he was sitting
in my lap in his little Cosmic Pet Carrier. Not something I would recommend, we are still dealing
w/diet issues because of no research.
2. What is your bird's name, age and sex?
Merlin's a Mexican Red Head Amazon or Green Cheeked Amazon, Hatchday April 14 2006, male.
3. Does your bird do any special tricks?
He & his daddy have been practicing placing a wiffle ball in a cup. I don't think they've reached trick status.
4. What are some of your bird's favorite foods?
Peas, black grape, red pepper & cranberries.
5. What is the funniest thing your bird has done?
I work from home & we had a routine that when I got off from work, we played
together for 20 minutes & then I worked out. I always try to keep him involved w/what
I'm doing, so as I finish a set I always say "Good Job" For some reason, I worked out 1st after work,
& he sat on his tree stand & screamed at me "Good Job, God Job" in an angry 'zon voice.
6. How has your bird enriched your life?
He's such a great companion, I always have someone who loves me close by. We also eat a better diet.
7. What would you tell people who are considering this species?
They are very intelligent, capable of carrying a grudge & never forget a slight. I always consider his wishes before we do anything, he likes to participate in decisions concerning him. He's affectionate, but on his terms. I would never call him a cuddly bird.
8. What is the activity and noise level of your bird?
He's really fairly quiet, only loud some mornings & some evenings. He's mostly cage free, we have "Merlin Areas" in most of our rooms for him to hang out. He plays quietly or naps where ever we are. He's fully flighted, so he just flies to where he wants to hang out.
9. What are some of your bird's quirks?
He screams when it snows. He also doesnt like to take a bath.
10. If your bird talks, what is the most surprising word or sentence it has said?
He didn't like that I was petting our dog, he said "Bad Dog" to my knowledge, I had never said bad dog, she was a saint.
11. What is your bird’s favorite treat?
Has to be egg, my DH now spells e g g when we're making our shopping list.
