We have one who occasionally gets night frights and that would be Kazoo.

He has one wood perch but it's higher up in his cage. He flys down when scared. We sleep with a night light. The rest of his perches are rope, pedi perch also up high.

This morning, at dawn something scared Hoosier, I heard him thrash for a second. He bonked his eye on something. The suspect a lower wood perch that is now gone.

Placing perches strategically can reduce injury. My poor dude has a slight bruise in 2 places and a slight knick. He was showered this morning to ensure it was clean.

Keeping an eye on this, or if anything changes off, to the Avian we go.

Thanks Jen. He seems to be okay. First time in 10 plus years this happened.

No, never needed one. He's in the main part of the house, I heard this as it happened.

Kazoo, is in my room with me, so I hear him the second he has an issue and can calm him down.

Poor bub! :mykid: Feel better!

Does he do OK if his cage is padded at the bottom? You might only have to put the padding in before bedtime, unless he dislikes change.

Well they are never too far away that my ears won't hear them.

Yes, I feel pretty bad he got a bruise. He's okay, eating and acting fine. Just glad he didn't hurt his actual eye.

He's okay- paper covers all the cage grates here. Funny, the Amazons tend to flap and flop to the ground. He hit his eye on that wood perch!
