I noticed a couple of drops of blood on the floor and upon further inspection I noticed it came from my bird's tail. I found a new feather on the floor with fresh blood at tge tip. I ran cold water over his tail and placed him back on the bathroom perch to see if the bleeding stopped.

Has the bleeding stopped?

Don’t wet the bird anymore, you need the blood to clot which it won’t be able to do with water washing the clot away.

It seemed to until I started to inspect tge site then it bled a little more so I applied hydrogen peroxide and now he's on his celebs perch. His demeanor is very calm and tge bleeding seems to have stopped.

In future if you need to stop bleeding you want to keep the wound dry and use corn starch or plain flour along with gentile pressure to stop the bleeding. I personally would not use hydrogen peroxide on my bird without the vets strict instructions to do so and even then I would question it.

Ok good to know. Thank you so much for the advice. Oliver seems to be ok, he's on his tabletop perch and eating. 20210307_212352.jpg e

And now he's playing with his chew toys. All signs that he's ok. Whew, he gave me quite a scare. 20210307_212932.jpg

Glad all is well!

It may just be the photo but it looks to me like your birds toy chains have some rust on them? If so, please remove them and replace them with rust free SS chain- rust is very harmful to our feathered friends.

The chains had turned a dark color but not rusty. However, I removed them anyway. 20210307_220222.jpg

He appears to be tending to his feathers where his wound is. Should I be concerned or is that a good thing? 20210307_221006.jpg

Hopefully he is just fixing feathers and he is not going to pick the scab and make it bleed again.
