that's a long name, we just call them "black bellies". These are hanging out around the house along with a couple of Spoon Bills.

I saw some of those whistling ducks at the San Diego Zoo, they are adorable and the whistle they make is so awesome!

I had never heard of them before until I met a breeder of parrots not far from me. The timing was right and I was there when they started to fly in. She gets 100 to 200 in her yard! I never knew ducks perched in a tree either. What a learning lesson. Just beautiful. I was too stunned to even think of taking pictures. People sell them around here.
