Aviary construction has begun!!!

We have finally broken ground on our new outdoor aviary! It's going to be 20x10, with stainless steel mesh, complete with double door and a chute leading off our bedroom directly into the aviary itself. That way we won't have to carry our birds out to the aviary. We'll be able to put them inside the chute and then they'll be able to fly in!

So excited!!! They are prepping the ground to lay the drainage pipes and pour the concrete slab.

Some birdies are going to become very spoiled. Nothing but the best for my beautiful birdies!

Thanks! The chute design will allow the house and aviary to become a 'closed system' of sorts.

Here's the area that we'll be using for the aviary. Tomorrow is concrete pour day!

What a long process this has been. Went through several fabricators, but have finally settled on one who not only came in 8K less than the most expensive contractor's bid, but is also on board to meet all my bird safe specifications. Today I signed on the dotted line, so now he'll start ordering all our products.

Best time frame from ordering everything until completion is 5-7 weeks. Can't wait!!

It's a tunnel of sorts leading from the side of the aviary to the house. There will be a slider door installed into the window, with another door leading into the aviary. That way I can place the bird into the chute, close the door, and then go into the house to bring them in.
