My cockatiel started loosing its flight feathers one by one.. I thought hes molting period started… but i noticed that all of the fallen feathers have blood cloths at the end of the tip. My other cockatiel’s fallen feathers never had any blood cloths on the tip.. Is this healthy? I noticed that he uncomfortably shakes his wings, like somethings hurting him. And his having a hard time flying. What could be the cause ?

In the forum i found out that the long feathers stand a good chance of getting broken when they stand out from the other feathers and dont have their help to protect it which is very logical but i dont know if that could be the cause.

They do look like they have come out before finishing their growth, unfortunately! That's why there is blood in the shaft still. There are a range of reasons for this, from simply being spooked and "dropping" the feathers, to another bird pulling them out, to plucking, to diseases, etc.

I would probably schedule a vet appointment if at all possible.
