Well, Java just took the big leap and flew from his cage over to my desk and he's been sitting beside me for the last twenty minutes, watching me use my laptop. Now, to encourage him to spend more time out of his cage, I want to invest in a play stand, one that would be ideal for his disability (one leg). Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with enrichment for disabled birds?

That's great, now he'll do it more and more seeing how he survived and you didn't eat him. I've seen stand alone and table top stands with lower perches so maybe that would be good for him do he can easily haul him self to the perch if he wants or sit on the flat areas below.
