Do any other non Caique parronts have a really difficult time picturing a Caique hen sitting on a nest all puffed up incubating eggs? With as ADD and hyper as Caiques can be, and considering we are constantly bombarded with cute playful and energetic pictures and videos of these clowns, just the image of a Caique hen sitting very calm and fluffy on top of a clutch of eggs is a very foreign mental image to me. Anyone else lol?

Lol your point is easy to see. But the hormones kick in and calm them down.

Today Fingers and Cha Cha sat quietly on their cage top and ate their dinner. Then went back to bed.

Shocked? I NEARLY SPILLED MY DRINK!

Good luck to you John and to Fingers and Cha Cha. I hope the eggs make it to hatch.

That sounds like a plan to me! @Laurie ?
I let them have it unless there is injury or a problem with the eggs. So far all three of my pairs take good care of the eggs. Hatchlings, not so much.

It's always a hard decision whether to intervene or not intervening as much as possible.

I've never incubated eggs.

Thanks Laurie.
I've never incubated fertilized eggs either.

But I hand raised Thumper from a few days old.

I want Cha Cha to learn how to raise chicks herself. But I'm not ready to lose chicks to accomplish this.

In a months time the chicks will hatch if they're going to. Since I'm ending my work contract in ten days I may have time to supervise any neonates for a few weeks

Second egg laid tonight. Right on cue. And the low level squealing continues.

@Laurie is this normal for your pairs?

I took a short recording but can't upload it here.

Well I looked in this morning and both eggs were on opposite sides of the nest box hidden in feathers etc.

I placed them Centre stage. When I came home both birds were in the nextbox. When I looked the eggs were still exactly as I left them

Calm descended tonight. Not a squeak at all. Hopefully all will be normal now
