The Lafeber person respond to my email this morning. I gave her the number and expiration date of the container.
I just ups'ed the pellet berries to her so they can figure out what it is and how it came to be.
They've always come across as a pretty decent company and products. The company was started by the Dr. LaFeber who originally owned/founded Niles Animal Hospital which Dr. Sakas took over and runs. History of Niles Animal Hospital | Niles Animal Hospital & Bird Medical Center

At the risk of jinxing things I'd trust them to look into this and resolve it.

If I see sodium this or that and hydridoxine ANYTHING, I just dump it and walk away.

I will not feed my babies something I just dont understand.

WTH in the wild are they gonna find hydridoxine fruit and veg?

RUBBISH

Go down to the market. Buy fresh fruit. Wash thoroughly to remove external preservative, and relax

Totally off topic - how's Thumper Fuzz Butt? And how's England treating you or are you back home now? You'd be leaving winter and heading into summer wouldn't you?

I am pretty impressed at the fact that they didn't just say return it for a refund and end it there. Glad they will be looking deep into this matter. Kai lives for Nutriberries!!!!

Pyridoxine is a water soluble form of vitamin B6.... so... you would find it in meat, potatoes, banana, and so on.

Anyway... hopefully Lafeber will give you some answers and make things right. This stuff is unfortunately bound to happen given the perishable nature of the product, but it's still unsettling.

The Pellet Berries are a different product in that it is moister and probably has very different ingredients and processing. So I believe this incidence would be unique to the pellet berry product.
I would give it to them as a treat.

Yes, they will reimburse me.
And I believe they will follow through on the analysis of the food I returned.
I agree with your comment about it being a perishable product.

So it's not a nutriberry :think1:

No, no. Not the Nutriberry.
Sorry if I caused a confusion.
It is the Pellet Berries, which is all pellets, no seed, but formed into a ball. image.jpeg

I remember years ago I bought a container of Nutriberries. Opened it up and found a disgusting surprise! I returned the item for a refund since that was the simplest thing to do.

Most companies are usually pretty good about their foods, and LaFebers can be quite generous, too, when it comes to samples! I may not agree with their entire ingredients list, but I'd say they're good apples! ;)

@WendyN Did you ever get a result in this? I just found mold in an exact same container. I did a google search and found this thread. Just emailed the company with photos. Very concerning to say the least :(

In my case, The rep asked me to send the product to Lafeber, which they paid for shipping.
She sent me a LOT of products in return, very generous.they are a good company.

I suggest if you wish to continue using the pellet berries:
- i would order direct from the company to insure freshness and proper storage and handling of the product.
- when you open it, give the inside (center) portion of the container a check for freshness.
- lastly, I would store it in the freezer and take out a little at a time for daily serving.
