After a hysterectomy...

My female cockatiel had a hysterectomy Dec. 2016 after becoming egg-bound. Can she still become hormonal after that? She's shrieking, clucking and masturbating! Is this possible?

I don't know, you should ask your vet about her behavior. Is there a possibility that she is hurting?

Oh I'm sure she can still become hormonal. The big difference is now its safe because she can't build any eggs.

She'll be hormonal anyways, my vet suggested Red raspberry leaf to relieve hormones and egg laying,( which you not need worry about)...I believe it is helping my Lemondrop, she's been doing well and not had anymore eggs since she's been on the tea. It's worth a shot, it's natural, so it won't hurt her.

I got red raspberry leaf at an herb store, brew about a tablespoon of it in 4 ounces hot water for around ten minutes and strain ...I give it orally,,,for a tiel, I would give 3 CC's daily till hormones cease. But, if she can't lay any more eggs, it's up to you if you want to do this. Like I said, it's a natural thing and will not hurt her.
