I have a large cage with 2cm bar spacing. I was wondering if parrotlets could escape from this?
If not how small can their cages be? As finding a large cage with 1/2 bar spacing is very difficult.

2cm (@3/4") is too large, IMO. I would stick with 1/2" bar spacing.

I'm struggling to get a persistent cage size recommendation. How small can this cage be? I usually only have my birds in their cage while I am out and at night.

They might not escape but could become stuck trying and that could not end well.

Yes, I have a dog, so I would not be okay with the chance of eventually coming home to him having hurt the bird. Would a large "budgie cage" be suitable? I hear people say they need a teil sized cage, but I am struggling to find any that aren't over 1/2.
