Zupreme pellets are very hard. Is that normal?

Picked up Zupreme Natural Pellets for Cockatiels at our local pet store. They didnt have any smaller ones for parakeets and I was thinking I could just grind them into smaller pieces. But when I do, they're insanely hard for me to grind. Is that normal? I don't know if I should feed this to the budgies.

It’s normal, at least based on my experience.

I’ve fed Zupreem Naturals for years in the same size and they’re always pretty hard. You can’t crush them in your fingers or anything. But my birds break them in half or crumble them easily.

Also! Instead of grinding, use a food processor. That should do the trick!
