I cant believe I havent seen this till now. Ziggy sounds wonderful, as are you for taking him in and showing him what a lot of love and patience can do.
I agree with your quote. I don't know if I would be able to put up with all that Ziggy went through, if I were in his situation. Anyway, Ziggy's story is marvelous and touching, proving what loving creatures birds really are
While I still grind nuts for him, Ziggy now prefers to get his almonds whole. He uses his upper beak to gouge strips out of the almond, and manages to eat an entire almond that way. He continues to adapt in all kinds of ways.
I haven't spoken with Heidrun in a while, but the last time I did, she expressed a wish to take a break from forums. We wish her and her feathered family well. I'm sure Ziggy, especially, will always have a special place in the hearts and memories of many of our members.
