Bought some mango puree, apple juice, and apple sauce to try. He only seems interested in the mango puree though.

Craig's trying to spoon feed him the puree+meds now :)

Also, got a call from the rescue he came from today (I've been giving them updates, too). They offered to pay for some of his medical bills. We thought it was very great of them to offer to do that but declined as they could do more with the money than we could. I just thought it was pretty outstanding that a rescue is able to do such a thing.

He had about 80% of the juice before he decided he was done. I put it back in the fridge to try a bit later. Little stinker.

We have to dilute it about 10 parts juice to one part medicine.

Hoping the vet calls tomorrow with the complete results. Cross your (collective) fingers!

Why can't they make meds and supplements that parrots love - nut flavour!
I thought it was hard getting my kids to take their medicine .... Parrots, jeesh!!!

He would only take very little this morning.

Hoping the vet calls with the rest of the results today.

He eats, drinks, shreds, and moves about his cage just fine. He's not lethargic or pooping strange stuff so we're not extremely worried. I think we'll have to withhold his food at night and during the day until AFTER he takes the meds to make sure he actually gets them, though. He's just a very obstinante brat.

So, the full results came back and the proteins are normal.

She said the major thing not ruled out now is heavy metal toxicity.

She said we can either:
1) do X-rays and more blood work now
Or
2) wait until meds are done and test again

I don't understand how #2 is a real option, I think we'll get another opinion.

I'm so sorry you're going through this :(

The way I used to get Tango to take meds, before I became confident enough to handle the screams and curses (@$$hole comes to mind) from him (or at least before I learned to cry AFTERWARDS) was to feed him them with pomegranate juice. So just another option should he get used to or tired of the mango.

Heavy metal toxicity doesn't make any sense to me though.

His poo is normal, no greenish or strangeness going on there. He isn't lethargic, he's eating, he's drinking normally, he's playing, he's talking, no shivering or puffed-upness...

In other news, he drank ALL of his medicine on his own after I took away access to his food :)

Definitely going to try an avian vet that's a ABVP instead of just an AAV member.
