Thanks all. I am reading your responses and have to look into everything you said. This morning Bertie was limping more than usual, so I figured I would set up a box for him in the bottom of the cage. But he didn't like the idea of being so low and started climbing the cage using his beak and flapping. I had to leave so I put him back up on the rope perch and he sat in his food bowl for several hours until I got home. I got a couple more rope perches, a plush birdie tent that hangs from something that he can relax in only so far we haven't found a good place to hang it, and a cozy corner plush perch thing that I can't for the life of me figure out. We switched the food bowl to one he can't sit in. Anyway, here are a couple pictures so far, don't know how clear they are. The cage needs to be cleaned and the box is still in the bottom. Very much a work in progress. This is exhausting. Also, the teen just told me that the bird's good foot has a small bruise looking area on it. Yikes. Edit: At this point he can't jump. He can only walk a little unsteadily.
