Firstly, no need to tell me to go to the Vet. I am already sitting in the Emergency Vet's exam room. Just looking for opinions on possible cause and treatments until my specialist opens availability as this ER is great with birds, just not avian specialty.
Last night I went to sleep on my couch as I switch between that and my bed randomly. Sheba's perch is right behind the couch, and she was absolutely fine last night. Literally zero signs of any issue as of 3am when I actually fell asleep.
Woke up at 8am to a typically SILENT bird growling extremely loudly as she continues trying to violently regurgitate with nothing coming up. She had milky white secretions in her mouth, though nothing excessive. However her breathing was extremely labored and wet sounding. The whole typical wide stance, drooped wings, open mouth breathing with tail bobbing and accessory muscle usage. Slightly more wobbly on her feet, keeping eyes closed or half closed. Weirdly surprised and growling with any sudden movement or touch. She continued to try to regurgurgitate for 15-20min on the way to the vet. Since I woke up, I noted swelling on the right side of her face, under her eyes, cheek, down to the flesh under her beak. Not airsac-related, and bruised. Continuing to swell slightly over time. Caused pain to touch when she scratched her right ear. Now at the vet still continues the loud labored breathing and occasional 30s regurgitation. No feces in droppings at the vet, just urates. She ate yesterday like normal, will not eat currently. No new birds, plants, scents, food, anything.
PMX of Liver Disease, and 1x witnessed seizure in winter of '24. No medication currently other than Dandilion Milk Thistle Supplementation. Suspect this may be part of the Liver Disease decline, though unsure. I have had her for going on 3 years at this point with otherwise positive progress on weight loss and healthy diet.
