I am sorry for your loss.
Have you talked with your employer? Maybe you had some sick leave or vacation they could have allowed.
So terribly sorry for the loss of your beloved bird & that caring for them cost you your job.
It's beyond sadness & I hope maybe you can negotiate your job back or find something asap.
