My sister has just brought these mug painting kits in for my mum and stepdad to do. They have to be put into the oven after painting...is this safe to do with birds in the house..?? 20250609_143806.jpg 20250609_143812.jpg

Is there a manufacturer phone number on the box? That would be best to call them and ask.

I would not say that it is safe. This is because a process of dihydroxylation and sintering occurs in the paint when it is baked. Additionally, paints contain various types of toxic metals that can be released into the air when heated and baked. This isn't good for any living animal but especially not birds.
That being said, you could paint them outside and bake them later on at a friend's or other family member's house. After being washed they'd be safe to bring home.

TBH I can't tell you for certain, so honestly i'd just bake them at a friend's house. They'll be totally safe after baking!

I’d play it safe and either remove the birds from the area or see if the cups can be baked elsewhere if your kitchen can’t be closed off from the bird area and well vented.
