Bin was down to 53-54 last night because it was a hot day with a cold night and I wasn’t awake to turn on the heater early morning. Surface was covered with castings. never seen before. Tonight is even colder. Dialed the heater down and turned it on. Crawling up walls again but I’m not freaking out because bin is 58F subsurface. Tent is 55. Outside in the 40s.

I can’t see much but I’m guessing they’re climbing the walls in again? I can’t help but wonder if it’s too warm if they’re all trying to get out again.
As the food and paper breakdown the bacterial increases so does the temperature.

It’s 59F inside. 1” below the surface. 93% humidity though the air is 40% humidity outside. Heater is set very low.

I just zoomed in and could see a bit of activity... all the ones I saw that came up to the the very top all went straight back in. I can’t seem to see anything on the walls though as the pic gets really dark towards the edge.

15C (59F) shouldn’t be too warm at all.

At a guess I’d say they’re just exploring to see if there’s any other fav tastes on the menu next door or if they’re at the best place already.

I think you’re right. 75 out of 4000 adventuring worms is reasonable would you say?

@Shezbug this cardboard glue is slimy when soaked. Risk it?

It is 34C here today, I have not looked at our worms for a few days but I am pretty sure mum tossed some food rubbish on them yesterday. I am just going to go open up one of our contained bin worm farms to see what ours are doing... I will almost bet there will be worms on the walls and the lid.

They will love that cardboard- ours would! The slimy stuff will be the glue they use and the worms nearly always love it

So I just discovered mum has moved most of the worms to another farm or bed but about half of what is in the one I checked had gathered along the walls and there were a few on the lid of the bin too. When it cools down a bit in a few hours they should all start to move back into where the paper wads and chunks of food are. I am guessing she is ready to let this worm bin dry out a bit to make them lay eggs so she has more worms- I think she is giving a heap of them to a friend who has just started a worm farm but has no worms yet lol.
