It seems everyone has their own preferred ways of keeping worms for composting. There’s no one strict particular way, whatever works for your set up and food supply is what you do- just experiment a bit.
The shredded bedding, chow and special additional foods (oyster shell, egg shell, linseed stuff that girl used) are something we don’t ever do! Lol If it’s gonna cost me to keep worms then I’m not having them!! That’s the whole point to composting- it’s environmentally friendly but it should also be time and finance friendly. Worms are essentially scavengers like vultures and are part of nature’s clean up crew.
Mine get strictly rubbish... organic crap that would otherwise go in the bin and stink it up, there’s no special sprinkles for the top, no special diet mixes or shakes- just rubbish that is literally good for nothing but throwing away.
Maybe experiment with one side of the bin getting a little turning for air and the other side none. See where the most worms are and adjust your care plan to suit. There are so many varying things people do- you can make it as complicated or simple as you want... I prefer simple so everything just gets dumped in the worm bin in no particular order and we run a few litres of water through it every now and then for the worm tea/juice run off so we can use it on the garden but other than that nothing that causes thought stress or work is really done for our worms.
Yes to the go pro lol. We need more pics of your birds looking at you funny
