This may seem a little silly but I just bought 2 new toys for my 2 budgies. (A natural hammock and a foraging toy) I've only had my budgies for 3 weeks and they are very trusting and can step up and leave the cage. I took them out of the cage so I could put their toys in. They saw me putting in their new toys and absolutely freaked out and started flying everywhere. One of my parakeets has only one wing clipped (due to stupid employees at petco ) so he flew a foot and hit the ground, then climbed to the top of his cage where he would refuse to accept any treats and wouldn't step up. My other budgie flew back into his cage but was really afraid of the new toys. I didn't want to force him to get back in the cage so I waited and offered treats but eventually they both freaked out again and somehow made it back into their cage. I tried to feed them to say sorry but they didn't accept it and just ran away. I feel really bad and I think i might've lost their trust. I just wanted to give them more to play with because they have a pretty bare cage since we got them. Will they come around again? 17219326600823775049389352605321.jpg 17219327541476254623240409840100.jpg 17219327833045849730516561249673.jpg these are their toys

Sometimes new things can be really scary. Give them a day or two to decompress and then put your hand in with of their favorite treats and they should come around. All budgies are different, but I've never had one that wasn't forgiving. It might just take a few days for them to realize they toys are fun and everything is okay. They are probably still getting used to everything after moving too.

As for the one sided clipped wing, that can be dangerous as they can't fly straight and will fall and hurt themselves. I don't know a ton about it, but it might be worth clipping the other one to make it even for him. I'm not a big fan of clipping unless necessary, but it's better then them hurting themselves. Just be careful not to clip too short, a nice "glide" is what you're going for.
Good luck! Your birds will come around soon.

Thank you so much this really helped! Its been a few hours and they figured out that the hammock is safe and will eat a from my hand. As for the one clipped wing, I noticed that it is starting to grow back I will let it be for now but if it seems to be too problematic with flying I may clip his other wing. Thanks again :D

No problem! I'm glad your little birdies are settling in comfortably.
Good luck with your new babies!

All my birds will eventually get freaked out anytime I introduce anything new into their cage. Sometimes I will wait and watch to see who is gonna be the most courageous one to start investigating

You will be fine. The more time you spend with them, the closer they will be with you. So spend as much time as you can! Whistle songs to them. Make clicking nooses with your mouth. My birds love that.
