I love to visit Florida..and one of the many reasons I love it so much are the wild parrots.
All these pictures have been taken in the Tampa Bay area.

This was a flock of Nanday parakeets at the park by the pier in Safety Harbour. I have only seen them there once.

Then we drove one day and I got out of the car to get a newspaper. I heard parrots and followed the noise. This is what I found.:) It was hard to walk away.
My husband eventually came looking for me.:hehe:

When you look closer, you will see some quaker parakeets with the nandays.

But they got chased away and could only watch most of the time.

But then I followed "the noise" another time in downtown St. Petersburg and found this:

They also hang out on the beach..but enough pictures for now...

Loved the pictures! Thank you for sharing. I often wonder what people will think 300 years from now. I mean, we wiped out the only native parrot in the US, but now we've introduced and have flocks of nandays, quakers, cherry headed conures and others living on their own successfully. Is it all together a wash?

Unfortunately, not everybody is as thrilled with these parrots as we are.
Especially the quakers are not popular because they build huge nests on utility posts.

Having lived in New England, my whole life, we moved to Florida in 2005 (& left in 2006). One day I was driving to work in Clearwater when all of a sudden I notice this flock of green birds land in a tree. They were parrots... I couldn't believe it and had to pull over to get a better look. Also, I just heard recently that there are wild parrots living in New York City... beautiful birds ( I miss Florida)

We see hundreds of nanday conures in Lake Worth, near the beach and drive in theater. You see quakers too.
