I noticed on the back of some parrot food is says Do Not refrigerate. WHY??? I've always kept my bird food in a zip-lock bag and in the fridge.

Thanks,

Rick, do you mean like pellets? Or seeds, that say not to refrigerate?

I’m not sure but I wonder if it’s got to do with the chance of condensation?

Yes, Elly.
I have saved a ton of those moisture thingys and use them when I do refrigerate the food so, moisture shouldn't be an issue with me.
Wow - I googled it, but could not find an answer. I think I would try to email the company that says 'do not refrigerate' on the bags and see if they will give you an answer on that question!

I'm going to risk saying it is because of condensation. When you make dried pellets or any dry hard food cold then bring it into a warm moist atmosphere it will quickly absorb the moisture. Opening and closing a large froze bag will over time just get more moisture till it equalizes with the moisture content of the climate it is opened in. This will naturally encourage mold to grow like in your bread.

I buy wood, that today is kiln dried and never use it till it has reached ambient moisture content, this could take days or weeks depending the species of wood.

This all depends on where you live and the different seasons.
