Why is my Yellow sided like this? is it normal? what does it mean?

I noticed ever since I bought my yellow sided from a breeder that he gets startled very easily and flaps his wings when he hears very quite or loud ticks. I included the video of the behavior. sometimes his wings flap even higher than as shown.

It looks like a startle response. My CH conure does the same when he hears a noise and doesn’t know what it is.

Yeah, looks like your bird's spooked by something. Rupert will respond with that body language and sometimes will go "breee" while checking whatever it is that scared him. Can be a rogue floofy or a bug, sometimes a shadow.

I agree, looks like a startled response. If the noise scares him enough, he may take flight.

Birds have different personalities, just like people. That includes how brave or shy, how noisy or quiet, or how easily scared or startled they can be.
